US Expresses Concern Over Russian Interference in Moldova Elections

The USA has expressed concern over Russia's interference in the second round of presidential elections in Moldova, the results of which are expected to be quite close. The electoral process in Moldova has raised alarm in the USA after Russian officials visited the country and announced support for certain candidates. These actions raise questions about possible Russian interference in the elections in Moldova. Notably, presidential candidate Maia Sandu received more votes in the first round than her opponent Ion Chicu.

"We are concerned about reports that Russian officials are coming to Moldova and openly suggesting attempts to influence the election results," stated the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in comments.

From their side, Russian officials deny any interference in Moldova's electoral process, noting that their visit was part of normal diplomatic contacts with this country. The situation remains tense, but at this moment, there have been no official statements or steps indicating election violations.
